ISS/ISD MONITOR (FLOATER POSITION WHERE NEEDED)




Job Description

TITLE: ISD ISS MONITOR
 
PRIMARY FUNCTION: 
To provide a quiet and safe environment for students assigned to detention and in-school suspension to study and complete work as assigned by classroom teachers. 
 
DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS: 

  • Hold at least a high school diploma or equivalent, college degree preferred. 
  • Candidates with or working towards at teaching certificate preferred. 
  • Demonstrate basic reading, writing, and computation skills. 
  • Have previous experience with groups of students with behavior issues. 
  • Have good physical and emotional health. 
  • Possess CPR and First Aid certification or become certified upon employment. 

 
REPORTS TO:  
Principal (Teacher Evaluation Instrument) 
 
PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:  

  1. Assist students, as needed, with completion of assigned work 
  2. Teach students new skills as appropriate. 
  3. Teach students appropriate research skills. 
  4. Provide academic feedback as needed. 
  5. Assume responsibility for a neat and safe environment for students. 
  6. Encourage self-direction and self-motivation in students. 
  7. Teach and assist students about strategies to improve behavior. 
  8. Use positive reinforcement, constructive criticism, and restorative behavior practices to maintain good student discipline and keep students on task. 
  9. Collect and return daily assignments to teachers for students assigned to ISD ISS. 
  10. Maintain daily communication with classroom teachers and school administrators related to the progress of each student assigned to ISD ISS. 
  11. Keep accurate records of attendance and report any discrepancies to the office. 
  12. Maintain a strict code of discipline.
  13. Perform any other specific and reasonable duties as requested by administration. 

 
TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT: 
As per statement of employment for non-certified personnel. 
 
EVALUATION:
Performance will be evaluated in accordance with school board policy and regulations in evaluation of personnel.
